Silver: Slides 35-39 on the new notes!!! Be sure to get them under notes, chapter 16 sec 1,2 and 4. We watched clips of Legends of the Fall, talked about the trenches. Answer these questions: How do you think the new weapons inventions helped to turn trench warfare into a stalemate? How did those weapons help give No Man’s Land its nickname?

Gold: Slides 35-39. Read the excerpts from some British soldier’s diaries. Now, imagine you are a soldier. Write a letter home from the trenches describing what conditions are like,   your job, weapons you see,  what you do all day and who you are fighting. Write in character. If you are British, put in an accent! ‘ello Guvner! Don’t forget a date (btw 1914 and 1918) and who you are writing to!
